Before printing:
- In your print dialog, set Scale to 100% (also called "Actual Size" or "None"). Do not use "Fit to page".
- All measurements in this tool use real millimetres — a 5 mm grid will measure exactly 5 mm on paper when printed correctly.

How to print lined paper
- Choose a ruling preset. College ruled (7.1 mm) is suitable for most adults. Wide ruled (8.7 mm) gives more space per line and is easier for younger writers or larger handwriting. Narrow ruled (6.35 mm) fits the most lines on a page. Use Custom to enter any spacing you like.
- Pick a line color. The default light blue-gray is close to a standard ruled notebook. You can change it to any color using the color picker.
- Toggle the margin line. Turn it on to include a red left margin line, or off for lines only.
- Select your paper size to match what is loaded in your printer.
- Click Print Paper. In the print dialog, set scale to 100% (Actual Size). Do not use Fit to page.
Uses for printable lined paper
- Handwriting practice. Print a stack of sheets for regular penmanship practice. A consistent ruling helps keep letter height uniform across a session.
- Journalling and freewriting. Many people prefer hand-written journals. Having a supply of printed lined sheets means you can always start a fresh page in the format that suits you.

Ruling standards explained
College ruled (7.1 mm / 9/32 in): The most common standard in North America for secondary school and beyond. Fits approximately 32 lines on a US Letter page with standard margins.
Wide ruled (8.7 mm / 11/32 in): Used primarily in primary and elementary school. The extra space is helpful when children are still developing letter size control. Fits approximately 27 lines on a US Letter page.
Narrow ruled (6.35 mm / 1/4 in): Common in smaller notebooks and useful for compact note-taking. Fits approximately 36 lines on a US Letter page.
Custom: Enter any value from 4 mm to 20 mm. Useful for oversized handwriting practice (10–15 mm), calligraphy guide sheets, or any non-standard requirement.

- Will the line spacing be accurate on paper?
- Yes, as long as you print at 100% scale (Actual Size) in your print dialog. The generator uses mm-unit SVG, so 7.1 mm line spacing will measure 7.1 mm on the printed sheet. Do not use 'Fit to page' or any scaling other than 100%.
