What this reading log includes

Each row is numbered and has five fillable columns: Title, Author, Started (the date you began), Finished (the date you completed it), and ★ Rating / Notes — a flexible column where you can jot a star rating, a one-word verdict, a favourite quote, or any other note you want to keep alongside the book. Rows alternate between white and a light shade of your chosen accent colour for easy reading.

How to use this reading log

  1. Set the number of rows — 20 for a single-page log, 52 for a weekly reading challenge, or any number up to 50.
  2. Choose an accent colour — amber, slate, rose, or teal.
  3. Give your log a title — e.g. 2026 Reading List or My Book Log.
  4. Print the sheet — click Print or press Ctrl+P (⌘+P on Mac). Portrait works well for most row counts.
  5. Keep it in your current book — folded or flat, it doubles as a bookmark and is always nearby when you finish a chapter.
  6. Fill in each row as you finish a book — write the title, author, dates, and a quick rating while the book is fresh in your mind.

Practical tips

  • Use the Notes column consistently — a one-line verdict is enough. Future you will appreciate being able to remember why you loved or disliked a book.
  • If you use the log as part of a reading challenge, write the challenge total at the top — e.g. Goal: 24 books in 2026 — so you can see your progress at a glance.
  • Print the log on slightly heavier paper (80–90 gsm) if you want it to hold up as a bookmark over many months.
  • At the end of the year, staple all your completed sheets together — it is a satisfying record of everything you read.

Frequently asked questions

What columns are on the reading log?
Each row has six fields: a row number, Title, Author, Started date, Finished date, and a Rating / Notes column where you can write a star rating, a one-line verdict, or a favourite quote.
How many books fit on one sheet?
20 rows fits neatly on one A4 or US Letter page. Use 30–50 rows for a full-year log across two or three pages, or drop to 10–15 rows for a more spacious layout.
Can I use this as a reading challenge tracker?
Yes. Set the number of rows to match your reading goal for the year — for example, 52 rows for a one-book-per-week challenge — and number the rows from the sheet to track your progress.
Can I change the accent colour?
Yes. Choose from amber, slate, rose, or teal in the settings panel. The header row and alternating row shading change to match your chosen colour.
Is there a large-print version of the reading log?
Yes. Toggle Large Print in the settings and the font size and row height increase throughout the sheet.
